It’s really important for us to be able to plan a few different events during the school holidays, which can be a pressured time for many. We know how valued these days are to the families in our community. This year we were able to have two fun days together with huge thanks to the Toyota Community Fund.
Our first day was a local picnic where over 100 people gathered to enjoy the spinning tea cups, a huge inflatable slide and an ice cream for all. The children really enjoyed using the rides as many times as they could while the parents got 5 minutes peace! It was a simple but affective way to bring people together for some focussed fun community time. Our time together generated a lot of interest as people came and joined in. We would definitely want to do this again and being able to use our local recreation ground, opposite our shop makes it the perfect location.
Our second day was a trip to Little Hampton. We took over 100 people via two coaches to the beach in the pouring rain! Thankfully the weather picked up shortly after we arrived and it was a sunny albeit windy afternoon. The children enjoyed crab fishing, making sand castles and some were brave enough to have a dip in the sea! They also enjoyed the arcades and various shops close by. Everybody had a great day out and we’re so thankful we could offer this again to our community. For those who can’t afford a holiday, these days mean an awful lot and the feedback we have had has been valued and heart felt.
“Thank you so much for today, that’s as close to a holiday as we get and it means the world to us all! If it wasn’t for you and the hard work you put in, we wouldn’t be able to have and share such special moments. Massive thank you to you and to Toyota too!’
